You may travel up to week 32 of pregnancy with your doctor’s written permission. Between weeks 32-35 your doctor must complete an Expectant Mother Travel Advice Form. Passengers are required to provide a minimum of 48 hours notice of their intention to travel.
Aeroflot transports pregnant women up to 4 weeks before their due date. Please contact your doctor to sign an affirmation, which must not be older than 7 days on the day of the flight.
Rules regarding the travel of pregnant passengers on Aerolineas Argentinas is the same for domestic, regional and international flights.
Women up to 8 months of pregnancy (whose delivery due date is 1 month or more after the flight) may board without filling out any form.
Pregnant women who spontaneously indicate they are more than 8 months pregnant or who say so when inquiring our company or at the traffic control staff’s request, assuming an evidently advanced pregnancy state, may only board if they fill out a Pregnant Passenger Transport form, which shall be delivered at the airport and accompanied by a medical certificate authorizing the person to travel and asserting there will be no delivery on board.
Pregnant women who show signs of a full term pregnancy, imminent delivery or threat of miscarriage may not board.
As per IATA’s recommendations, it is not advisable for pregnant women to travel within 7 days before delivery due date or within only 7 days or less after delivery.
Pregnant passengers travelling with AeroMexico after the seventh month of their pregnancy are required to provide a medical certificate stating that they are fit to travel. A letter freeing Aeromexico from any liability must also be signed by the pregnant passenger.
A woman with a normal pregnancy and no previous history of premature labor may travel up to and including her 36th week of pregnancy on Air Canada and on Jazz.
Women who are under 32 weeks pregnant can travel as regular passengers with Air China, provided that they are not deemed to be unfit for air travel by the doctor/midwife.
Women between the 32nd and 35th weeks of their pregnancy ay travel with Air China. However they are required to present a “Certificate of Diagnosis” (i.e. a medical note) issued by a doctor within 7 days of their departure date. The valid certificate shall be issued by a hospital of county level or above and must indicate that it is feasible and safe for the passenger to fly.
Pregnant women more than 35 weeks pregnant will not be permitted to board.
Women who are still within 14 days of their delivery are also not permitted to board.
A medical certificate is only required after the 28th week of a passenger’s pregnancy, or if the number of weeks a passenger is pregnant is unknown or if the passenger has had complications during the pregnancy.
Medical certificates provided must be issued within 7 days of the flight.
No medical clearance is required for pregnant passengers to fly with Air France.
Pregnant passengers in good health may fly with Air India up to and including the 32nd week of her pregnancy without restrictions.
Pregnant passengers between the 32nd and the 35th weeks of their pregnancy can travel with Air India if they produce a medical certificate from the attending obstetrician caring for them.
⦁ The medical certificate must state that the pregnant passenger is “fit to travel”.
⦁ The medical certificate should be dated no more than 3 days from the date of departure.
Pregnant passengers with multiple (e.g. twins, triplets, etc) or those with complicated pregnancies are not allowed to fly with Air India after the 32nd week of their pregnancy.
Pregnant passengers who are more than 35 weeks pregnant will only be allowed to fly with Air India on urgent or compassionate grounds.
⦁ Travel under urgent/compassionate grounds must be approved by Air India’s Executive Director of- Medical Services after the pregnant passenger has completed a MEDIF form.

Pregnant passengers carrying one baby who have uncomplicated pregnancies may fly Air New Zealand, with medical clearance from their midwife or doctor up to the end of the 35th week of their pregnancy if the flights is over 5 hours and to the end of the 37th week of their pregnancy for flights under 5 hours
For multiple pregnancies (e.g. twins) pregnant passengers can travel on Air New Zealand up to the end of the 31st week of their pregnancy.
A medical clearance is required by Air New Zealand if any of the following applies to a pregnant passenger:
They have a complicated pregnancy such as placenta previa or bleeding
They have a multiple pregnancy such as twins/triplets and are travelling beyond the start of the 32nd week
They have a history of premature labor
They are in the early stages of labor
They are travelling beyond the start of 36th week of pregnancy on a flight longer than 5 hours
They are travelling beyond the start of the 38th week of pregnancy on any flight
Air Tahiti Nui accepts pregnant woman without restrictions until the 6th month of pregnancy.
From the 30th to 35th week of pregnancy, a medical certificate issued within 7 days of the travel date is mandatory.
Beyond the 35th week of pregnancy, a pregnant woman cannot be accepted on board.
Pregnant patients 35 weeks pregnant or less can fly Air Transat flights without restriction.
Pregnant patients between 36-38 weeks pregnant must present a doctor’s certificate issued within 24 hours of departure.
Pregnant patients 39 weeks or more pregnant cannot fly Air Transat flights.
Pregnant passengers can travel up to and including the 35th week of their pregnancy with Air Vanuatu. A medical certificate must be provided at the time of check-in or travel may ultimately be denied.
Pregnant passengers flying with Air Asia up to the 27th week of their pregnancy are required to sign AirAsia/AirAsia X Limited Liability Statement at the time of check-in to absolve AirAsia/Airasia X against any liabilities arising from their travels.
Pregnant passengers between the 28th and 34th week of their pregnancy flying with Air Asia/Air Asia X are required to submit a doctor’s medical certificate. The medical certificate must:
⦁ Contain the passenger’s gestational ge
⦁ Be dated no more than thirty (30) days from either the scheduled date(s) of travel.
Pregnant passengers who are more than 35 weeks pregnant are not allowed to fly with Air Asia/Air Asia X.
Air Berlin allows expectant mothers to fly up to 4 weeks before their expected delivery date. All return flights me be completed before this date.
Alaska Airlines
There are no restrictions placed on pregnant patients.

Pregnant passengers in good health can travel with Alitalia until the eighth month of their pregnancy.
If an expectant mother is in the last four weeks of pregnancy, or if she has medical complications with her pregnancy or if she is expecting twins, she must have a medical approval certificate from her doctor before she can travel with Alitalia.
Alitalia requires pregnant passengers to complete a standard Medical Information Form (MEDIF), section E, page 1 and 3, where she will declare that she does not need to be accompanied during her travels by a medical professional.
Allegiant allows pregnant passengers to fly with them but requires that all pregnant passengers who are due to deliver within forty-five (45) days of their travel provide a note from their physician clearing them for travel.
⦁ Pregnant passengers travelling within 30 days of their due date need to visit their doctor within 48 hours of their travel and then obtain written certification that they are medically fit for flying. The certificate needs to be presented at check-in
⦁ In addition, pregnant passengers travelling within 10 days of their due date need authorization from the American Airlines Special Assistance Team.
⦁ American Airlines permits travel up to 7 days before a pregnant passengers due date. A medical certificate is not necessary in a uncomplicated pregnancy
⦁ Please note that travel is not permitted within 7 days before or after a pregnant patient’s date of delivery.
Exception: If you are connecting to / from an international flight within 7 days prior to or following your due date, authorization from the American Airlines Special Assistance Team must be obtained.
Pregnant passengers who are due to deliver less than 4 weeks (28 days) from their departure date are required to submit a medical certificate issued by a physician no more than 7 days before departure (including the day of departure).
⦁ The medical certificate should state that the passenger’s pregnancy is uncomplicated and the expected date of delivery.
⦁ In the medical certificate the passenger’s doctor should state that they are in good health and fit to travel by air.
⦁ If a pregnant passenger is travelling within 14 days of their due date they must be accompanied by a physician.
Pregnant passengers less than 32 weeks pregnant may travel without restrictions as long as they have not been advised not to travel by a doctor.
Passengers who are between 32 and 36 weeks pregnant are required to submit a medical certificate from their doctor that is dated no more than 7 days from their date of travel.
Passengers who are more than 36 weeks pregnant (more than 32 weeks if they have multiples like twins) are required to submit a medical certificate that is dated no more than 3days from their date of travel and requested clearance for travel in advance of departure.
Austrian Airlines accepts pregnant passengers up to the 36th week of their expected delivery date.
If you are traveling when you are 30 weeks pregnant or more, you must inform the airline about your status and also submit a medical certificate specifying your fitness to travel by air, taking into account the type of trip and the duration of the flight.
You must also present a document exonerating the airline for any complications that subsequently arise from your travels.
Bangkok Airways will accept pregnant passengers at the airline’s “discretion” and subject to “prior arrangement” between the passenger and the airline.
Pregnant passengers cannot fly with British Airways beyond the end of the 36th week of their pregnancy if they are carrying one baby.
Pregnant passengers cannot fly with British Airways beyond the end of the 32nd week of their pregnancy if they are pregnant with multiples (e.g. twins, etc).
After 28th week of pregnancy pregnant passengers must carry confirmation from their doctor or midwife (such as a letter or certificate, in addition to their pregnancy medical record) confirming their approximate due date and that there are no complications with their pregnancy.
Mothers-to-be with complication-free pregnancies can fly on Brussels Airlines flights up to four weeks before their expected due date (i.e. up to and including the 36th week of pregnancy) upon presentation of a recent medical certificate reporting the estimated date of delivery.
Expectant mothers beyond the 28th week of their pregnancy are recommended for European and U.S. flights and are obliged for flights to/from Africa to carry a current letter from a physician which includes the following:
⦁ confirmation that the pregnancy is progressing without complications
⦁ the expected due date
⦁ a statement that the patient’s pregnancy does not prevent her from travelling by air.
Medical clearance is needed for acceptance of expectant mothers with:
⦁ complicated pregnancies
⦁ twins or a multiple pregnancy as from the 28th week of pregnancy
For all pregnant passengers who are 28 weeks pregnant or more they may travel with Cathay Pacific if they provide a medical certificate that is dated within 10 days of the initial outbound travel date. Medical certificates are required to state:
⦁ whether a passengers pregnancy is a single or multiple pregnancy (e.g. twins, triplets, etc)
⦁ the estimated week of pregnancy the passenger is
⦁ the expected date of delivery (EDD)
⦁ that the passenger is in good health and that the pregnancy is progressing normally, without complications
⦁ that the pregnant passenger is fit to travel.
Please note that for your safety, if you choose not to carry a medical certificate, if your medical certificate is outdated or if it does not contain the information required, Cathay Pacific Airways reserves the right to deny boarding.
Cathay Pacific will accept patients with uncomplicated pregnancies up to 36 weeks of pregnancy.
Regardless of gestational age, patients with complicated pregnancies are required to obtain a medical clearance from the Cathay Pacific/Dragon Air medical team prior to travel. They will also be required to complete the Cathay Pacific/Dragon Air MEDA (which can be found on the airline’s website) no later than 48 hours before departure.
Healthy expectant mothers who are less than 32 weeks pregnant or more than 8 weeks for their estimated delivery date may travel and will be accepted by China Airlines as “normal passengers”.
If expectant mothers who are over 32 weeks pregnant and who are expected to deliver within 4 to 8 weeks of their travel date(s) wants to travel with China Airlines, they have to complete a “Release and Indemnity” form and they need to have a “Medical Certificate for Air Travel” which is filled out and signed by their Obstetrician within 7 days of their date of departure.
China Airlines will not transport any pregnant women who’s estimated due date is less than 4 weeks from the date of travel.
China Eastern will accept pregnant passengers who are less than 36 weeks pregnant.
Pregnant passengers are required to provide a medical certificate at the time of check-in.
⦁ The medical certificate must be completed by both the passenger and her doctor within 72 hours prior to departure and submitted.
Pregnant passengers who are less than 32 weeks pregnant can be transported as a common passenger on China Southern Airlines.
Pregnant passengers who are more than 32 weeks pregnant are required to provide a doctor’ certificate/letter that includes the following information:
⦁ Name and age of the passenger
⦁ Date of pregnancy
⦁ Flights and dates of the travel
⦁ Whether they are fit for air travel or not
⦁ Whether special care onboard is required or not, etc.
⦁ This documentation shall be issued within 72 hours prior to the date of travel. It must be signed by the doctor and must also be completed on business letterhead or contain a hospital seal.
The passenger whose pregnancy has exceeded 36 weeks or whose due date is within 4 weeks of the date of travel or those passengers with multiples (e.g. twins, triplets, etc) are not be allowed to travel.
If your pregnancy is uncomplicated and you are carrying only one baby, then the following regulations apply:
Up until the 28th week of pregnancy, you are allowed to fly without any medical certificate.
If you are flying between the 28th and the 36th week of pregnancy, a special medical clearance is required which may not be older than 10 days at the day of departure (including a confirmation of a normal pregnancy, the estimated time of delivery, other health concerns as well as a clearance for the desired air travel).
After you passed the 36th gestation week you cannot fly with Condor.
In case of an uncomplicated pregnancies in which the passenger has multiples (e.g. twins, triplets, etc), a medical attestation from the passenger’s doctor is required when travelling between the 28th and the 32nd week of pregnancy. After the 32nd week of pregnancy passengers pregnant with multiples cannot fly with Condor.
Women less than 30 weeks pregnant can travel on Copa without medical approval.
Women more than 30 weeks pregnant can travel on Copa if they;
⦁ Sign a Liability Waiver Form exonerating the airline of any liability for complications or occurrences related to their condition that may result during or after travel.
⦁ Provide at check-in a written doctor’s authorization for travel that is no more than 1 week old.
On international flights as well as on domestic flights within Panama, when travel will take place within 7 days of a passenger’s due date, a travel certificate issued by a doctor that is no more than 72 hours old is required. This certificate must indicate that the passenger is physically able to travel and that the probable delivery date is later than the last date of air travel.
⦁ For flights departing from Colombia, all pregnant women who are in their seventh month of pregnancy or beyond will be required to show a medical certificate issued no earlier than 12 hours prior to travel.
⦁ Boarding will only be denied if there are physical signs that indicate that labor has begun.
Pregnant women without preexisting medical conditions who are less than 34 weeks pregnant (28 weeks if carrying multiples like twins or triplets) may travel without restrictions and without requiring a medical release from their physician.
Pregnant women with preexisting medical conditions who are less than 34 weeks pregnant (28 weeks pregnant if carrying multiple), those with a history of multiples in previous pregnancies or those pregnant women who have experienced pregnancy complications in their current pregnancy (or in whom complications are expected), a physician’s medical release or a medical certificate is required. The medical release/certificate can be no more than 6 days old.
All pregnant women greater than 34 weeks pregnant are required to present a doctors medical release or a medical certificate. The medical certificate can be no more than 6 days old.
Delta does not restrict the travel of pregnant women and does not require a doctor’s medical release for travel.
For all pregnancies after 28 weeks (i.e. after 27 weeks + 6 days from Date of Last Menstrual Period), a medical certificate, dated within 10 days of the initial outbound travel date, is required. Medical certificates should state:
⦁ whether the passenger has a single or multiple pregnancy.
⦁ the estimated week of pregnancy the passenger will be in when travelling.
⦁ the expected date of delivery (EDD).
⦁ that the passenger is in good health and the pregnancy is progressing normally, without complications
⦁ that the passenger is fit to travel.
Please note that pregnant passengers that choose not to carry a medical certificate, or those who have an outdated medical certificate or a medical certificate that does not contain the information required, Cathay Pacific/Dragon Air reserves the right to deny boarding.
Cathay Pacific/Dragon Air will accept patients with uncomplicated pregnancies up to 36 weeks of pregnancy for travel.
Regardless of gestational age, patients with complicated pregnancies are required to obtain a medical clearance from the Cathay Pacific/Dragon Air medical team prior to travel. Easy Jet asks that if pregnant passengers that have experienced complications during their pregnancy plan to fly with Easy Jet they consult with their medical practitioner before flying.
Pregnant passengers can travel up to the end of the 35th week of their pregnancy if they are carrying one baby.
If pregnant passengers are expecting more than one baby (e.g. twins, triplets, etc), they can travel with Easy Jet up to the end of the 32nd week of their pregnancy.
A pregnant woman can fly up to 4 weeks before the expected delivery date (up to week 36) as long as her medical condition is good and she does not suffer from any pregnancy-related complications or from any medical problems.
From the 28th week of pregnancy, pregnant passengers are required to have with them authorization from their attending physician that includes information about the pregnancy to present to the El Al airport station manager when requested.
⦁ The physician’s authorization should be issued no more than 48 hours before the date of the first flight and will also be valid for the return flight, as long as the return date is no later than the 36th week of pregnancy
From the 36th to the 37th week of pregnancy, a physician’s authorization is required and permission to fly is subject to the approval of the EL AL Chief Physician\an EL AL-recognized doctor (MEDA)
⦁ If the return flight is scheduled for after the 36th week of pregnancy
⦁ From the 38th week of pregnancy and on
⦁ When there is uncertainty about how the pregnancy is developing or the expected date of birth or if the woman has had previous multiple fetus births of or if any risks are anticipated
⦁ During the first 7 days after birth, special approval is required from a recognized physician.
If you are pregnant and plan to travel once you have entered your 29th week of pregnancy, a medical certificate or letter signed by an appropriately qualified doctor or midwife is required, stating:
⦁ the confirmation of a singleton or multiple pregnancy
⦁ the pregnancy is progressing without complications
⦁ the estimated date of delivery
⦁ that you are in good health
⦁ that there is no reason known to them that would prevent you from flying
Please note that if a pregnant passenger chooses not to carry a medical certificate, they may not be accepted for travel if there is any doubt about their ability to complete their journey safely.
If a pregnant passenger has a multiple pregnancy (twins, triplets, etc), no air travel is permitted after the 32nd week of gestation. For single pregnancies, travel after the 36th week of gestation will be permitted only after prior clearance is granted by the Emirates medical department. A medical information form will need to be submitted for clearance purposes.
Women up to 32 weeks pregnant will be accepted for transportation on Ethiopian provided they furnish a “Pregnancy Certificate” from their physician. Pregnancy Certificate (Form PS-05-29A) shall be filled in three copies and can be downloaded from the Ethiopian Airlines website at https://www.ethiopianairlines.com/Cms_Data/Contents/EthiopianAirlines/Media/FlyEthiopian/documents/Pregnancy_Certificate.pdf. Pregnancy Certificate forms can also be obtained from the nearest Ethiopian ticket office.
⦁ Pregnancy Certificates should be issued within seven (7) days of the commencement of travel.
Boarding will be denied any pregnant passenger who displays signs of labor.
During the first 28 weeks of pregnancy mothers expecting one or multiple children can travel without a medical certificate
After the 28th week of pregnancy up to the 37th week of pregnancy women carrying one child will be required to provide a medical certificate before being able to travel.
⦁ From the 37th week of pregnancy women carrying one child will not be allowed to travel.
After the 28th weeks of pregnancy up to the 33rd week of pregnancy women carrying more than one child will be required to provide a medical certificate before being able to travel.
⦁ From the 33rd week of pregnancy onwards pregnant women carrying more than one child will not be allowed to travel.
All medical certificates provided must be;
⦁ Issued by a doctor or a midwife
⦁ Must be written on hospital or clinic letterhead and stamped or signed by a doctor or midwife
⦁ Must be issued within 7 days of travel
⦁ Must state if the pregnancy is a single fetus or multiple fetus pregnancy and must state the expected due date.
⦁ Must state that you may fly
⦁ Must be easily understood and written in English or Arabic. While other languages are acceptable they must be verified by Etihad Airways check-in staff.
Pregnant women in the last 4 weeks of their pregnancy (or in the last 8 weeks of their pregnancy if carrying more than one baby) are not allowed to fly on EVA Air flights.
Pregnant women 28 weeks pregnant or more must obtain and complete a medical information sheet (MEDIF) within 10 days prior to flight departure..
Eva Air recommends that pregnant travelers bring a Doctor’s Diagnostic Statement verifying their expected due date to prevent the possibility of being denied boarding by airport staff and to prevent being barred from entering a destination country. Regulations vary from country to country.
Expectant mothers with uncomplicated pregnancies who are in good health may travel with Fiji Airways up to and including the 35th week of pregnancy. A medical certificate must be provided however. In exceptional circumstances, expectant mothers who are in good health may travel with Fiji Airways after the 35th week but only after receiving the approval of a medical officer.
You cannot travel on the majority of Finnair flights if you are in your last month of pregnancy – in other words, you can travel up until your 36th week of pregnancy. However, you can take short Finnair flights to destinations within Finland and Scandinavia until your 38th week of pregnancy, provided that your pregnancy is progressing normally and there are no complications or signs of imminent childbirth.
If you are travelling after your 28th week of pregnancy, you must provide Finnair with a doctor’s certificate as proof that your pregnancy is progressing normally. You should obtain your certificate at some point during or after the 27th week. You only need to provide Finnair with one certificate, unless there are changes in your pregnancy’s progress. Certificates can be obtained at http://www.finnair.com/go/2015.8-84/documents/pregnancy-statement-for-air-travel.pdf.
⦁ E-mail doctor’s certificates to pregnancy.clearances@finnair.com or fax them to +358 (0)9 818 4825. You must e-mail your certificate to Finnair no later than 24 hours prior to flight departure.
Frontier Airlines has no restrictions on travelling while pregnant. They do advise that you consult with your physician before travelling however.
All pregnant patients who have had no pregnancy related complications and who are in good general health may travel with Garuda up to the 32rd week of their pregnancy without restrictions. They should however complete a Medical Information Form (MEDIF) before traveling.
Pregnant patients who have had complications during their pregnancy (regardless of how far along they are in their pregnancy) must obtain medical clearance from their physician no more than 7 days before travel.
⦁ The medical clearance obtained must be signed by Garuda’s physician or a Garuda appointed physician.
Germanwings allows pregnant women to fly without restrictions until they’ve reached the 36th week of their pregnancy.
Germanwings does require that you travel with your “Pregnancy Log” or with your Prenatal Records as they may ask to review them before allowing you to travel.
Pregnant women 27 weeks pregnant or less and carrying one fetus may travel on GOL without restrictions and do not need to provide medical authorization.
Pregnant women between the 28th and the 35th week of pregnancy and carrying one fetus may travel on GOL after completing a Declaration of Responsibility form that is provided by GOL.
Pregnant women between the 36th and the 38th week of pregnancy and carrying one fetus may travel on GOL after completing a Declaration of Responsibility form and after providing a signed medical authorization that is stated to be valid for 30 days.
Pregnant women 25 weeks pregnant or less and carrying more than one fetus may travel on GOL without restrictions and do not need to provide medical authorization.
Pregnant women between the 26th and the 31st week of pregnancy and carrying more than one fetus may travel on GOL after completing a Declaration of Responsibility form that is provided by GOL.
Pregnant women between the 32nd and the 38th week of pregnancy and carrying more than one fetus may travel on GOL after completing a Declaration of Responsibility and after providing a signed medical authorization that is stated to be valid for 30 days.
All pregnant women 38 weeks or more pregnant may only board a GOL flight in situations of extreme necessity and only when accompanied by an Obstetrician.
Important! For the medical authorization to be considered valid, it must be issued no more than one week prior to boarding. Even with medical authorization, it is not recommended for a mother to fly seven days before or seven days after giving birth.
For uncomplicated pregnancies involving one fetus Gulf Air restricts travel beyond the end of the 36 week. For uncomplicated pregnancies with more than one fetus (i.e. twins, triplets etc.) Gulf Air restricts travel beyond the end of the 32 week.
⦁ Expectant mothers in their 28th week of a healthy single pregnancy or those in their 22nd week of healthy multiple pregnancy or less, who anticipate no delivery complications, are accepted for travel without requiring medical clearance. However, a certificate from their doctor is required to prove the duration of pregnancy.
⦁ Expectant mothers after their pregnancy has entered its 28th week and up to 34th week require medical clearance from their doctor and from a Gulf Air doctor. This can be obtained by completing Gulf Air’s “CMP” form. Medical clearance from the pregnant travelers doctor must be obtained not more than three days before travel and it must confirm fitness to travel and state the following:
– Duration of the pregnancy.
– Date of last menstrual period (LMP).
– Expected delivery date (EDD).
– Last measured blood pressure.

⦁ Expectant mothers between their 34th and 36th week of pregnancy must not only obtain the abovementioned medical clearance from their doctor and from the Gulf Air doctor, but they must also be accompanied on all Gulf Air flights by a doctor or by a qualified nurse.
No air travel is permitted on Gulf Air beyond the 36th week of pregnancy.
Hainan Airlines places no restrictions on pregnant passengers travelling prior to their 34th week of the pregnancy.
Pregnant passengers between their 34th and 36th week of pregnancy are required to present a health certificate, issued by a physician within 72 hours of their flight’s departure, that certifies that the bearer of the certificate is healthy enough for air travel.
Hainan Airlines does not allow pregnant women beyond the 36th week of pregnancy to travel with them.
Pregnant passengers will be accepted for travel following the guidelines below, provided they are in good health and not experiencing distress. Hawaiian Airlines reserves the right to consult with its medical advisor for fitness to travel. Passengers who are unable to meet these requirements will be refused transportation.
For travel wholly within the State of Hawaii, travel is not permitted within seven days before and seven days after delivery date. A medical certificate is required if travel is requested within seven days before or after delivery.
Iberia has no policy restrictions or requirements for pregnant women travelling before their 28th week of pregnancy.
After 28 weeks of pregnancy pregnant passengers need to carry a certificate from their doctor or midwife confirming their estimated date of delivery and that there have been no complications with their pregnancy.
Pregnant passengers can travel up to the end of the 36th week of their pregnancy if they are carrying one fetus and up to the end of the 32nd week if they are carrying more than one fetus (e.g. twins).
Expectant mothers must be in possession of a medical certificate not issued earlier than 72 hours prior to commencement of travel if they are in their last month of pregnancy or have previously experienced a premature birth.
Expectant mothers in the last two (2) weeks of pregnancy will not be accepted for travel.
All pregnant women must provide documentation indicating how far along they are in their pregnancy before they are allowed to travel on Indigo Airlines.
Pregnant passengers flying on Indigo Airlines are required to provide “Fit To Fly” certificate from their doctor of midwife after they’ve reached or passed the 28th week of their pregnancy.
⦁ Pregnant passengers who have experienced pregnancy related complications are required to provide a “Fit To Fly” certificate from their doctor or midwife even before the 28th week of their pregnancy.
⦁ All “Fit To Fly” certificates shall not be more than 3 days old when presented prior to travel.
Pregnant passengers travelling on Japan Airlines are required to provide a medical certificate prior to travelling under the following circumstances;
⦁ They are travelling internationally and they have reached or surpassed their 36th week of pregnancy.
⦁ When their due date is not certain.
⦁ When multiple births may be expected.
⦁ When there is a history of premature birth in prior pregnancy(s).
All medical certificates must include the passengers due date, whether or not it is safe for the woman to fly and any special precautions that should be taken during the passenger’s travels.
⦁ All medical certificates must be completed within 7 days or less of the departure date.
ALL passengers flying within 14 days of their due date must travel with accompanied by an Obstetrician.
Jet Airways policies governing travel by pregnant passengers differ depending upon whether or not the flights being taken are flights within India, flights from India to Colombo, Dhaka or Kathmandu or international flights to or from Indian not involving Colombo, Dhaka or Kathmandu.

Pregnant Passengers expecting to deliver within seven days are prohibited from travel, unless such Passenger provides a doctor’s certificate dated no more than seventy-two (72) hours prior to departure stating that the Doctor has examined and found the Passenger to be physically fit for air travel to and from the destinations requested on the date of the flight and that the estimated date of delivery is after the date of the last flight.

If you have an uncomplicated pregnancy and are travelling in your first 28 weeks of pregnancy on a Jetstar flight you do not need to carry any medical documentation with you.
If you are more than 28 weeks pregnant, you must carry a certificate or letter from a registered doctor or registered midwife, dated no more than 10 days prior to travel confirming:
⦁ the estimated date of delivery;
⦁ whether it is a single or multiple pregnancy;
⦁ that there are no complications with the pregnancy
⦁ and that you are fit to travel
⦁ The certificate or letter must be available on request and be carried with you at the airport and during the flight in your cabin baggage.
Medical clearance is required if your pregnancy is not routine or has complications.
Pregnant travelers with uncomplicated pregnancies and who carrying one fetus require a clearance certificate from a Kenya Airways doctor after the 28th week of the pregnancy.
• Passengers will not be accepted after 36 weeks.
Pregnant travelers with uncomplicated pregnancies and who are carrying more than one fetus require a clearance certificate from a Kenya Airways doctor when travelling after 28 weeks.
• Passengers will not be accepted after 32 weeks.

A clearance certificate from a Kenya Airways doctor is required for all complicated cases pregnancies regardless of how far along in the pregnancy the traveler is.
All pregnant women beyond 28 weeks of gestation must provide a letter from their Obstetrician/Gynecologist, GP or Midwife stating:
• The gestation of the pregnancy in weeks,
• Whether it’s a single, multiple or high risk pregnancy,
• Any associated complications and other relevant information.
Note that your Doctor’s letter will not serve as a clearance certificate but will guide the Kenya Airways medical team in determining your fitness to fly.
KLM recommends that pregnant travelers who have reached or surpassed their 36th week of pregnancy not fly.
KLM recommends that pregnant travelers carrying more than one fetus consult with their doctor before travelling and that all pregnant patients who have experienced complications during their pregnancies seek the permission of their doctor before flying.
KLM has no expressly stated policies restricting travel during pregnancy nor do they have expressly stated policies requiring medical documentation from care providers before travelling.
There are no special requirements for ALL pregnant travelers flying Korean Air prior to the 32nd week of their pregnancy.
If you are between the 32nd and the 33rd week of your pregnancy and if you are carrying multiple children you must indicate your expected due date at the time you make your reservation. You also need to present the Korean Air medical declaration form (this can be found on the Korean Air website) at the time you check-in for your flight.
If you are more than 33 weeks pregnant and are carrying multiple children you cannot travel on Korean Air
If you are between the 32nd and the 36th week of your pregnancy and you are only carrying one chile, you must indicate your expected due date at the time you make your reservation. You also need to present the Korean Air medical declaration form (this can be found on the Korean Air website) at the time you check-in for your flight.
If you are 37 weeks or more pregnant and carrying one baby you cannot travel on Korean Air.
If you have experienced pregnancy related complications (e.g. gestational hypertension, gestational diabetes, bleeding, etc) during your pregnancy, then regardless of how many weeks pregnant you are when travelling you need to present both the Korean Air medical declaration form and a medical certificate completed and signed by an Obstetrician at the time you check-in for your flight.
Pregnant passengers who are 27 weeks pregnant or less may fly LATAM without restrictions.
Pregnant passengers who are in their 28th to 35th week of their pregnancy may travel if they provide certification from their doctor indicating that they are cleared to travel.
• Pregnant patients carrying multiple babies (e.g. twins, etc) must obtain a medical certificate and be approved for travel by the LATAM medical team.
Pregnant passengers who are in their 36th to 38th week of their pregnancy may travel if their doctor has completed a MEDIF certificate and indicated that they are cleared to travel.
• From 37 weeks pregnant travelers can only fly on flights of 6 hours or less.
Pregnant passengers who are 39 weeks or more pregnant cannot fly with LATAM.
Exceptions
In Colombia pregnant women can fly without restrictions until the 30th week of their pregnancy.
In Peru pregnant women can fly between the 28th to the 32nd week of their pregnancy if they submit a medical certificate at the time of travel. They can also travel between the 32nd and the 39th week of their pregnancy if they submit a medical certification which will be inspected by the LATAM medical team.
Between weeks 28 – 32 of pregnancy: You must submit medical certificate at the time of shipment. It is not necessary to count with the evaluation of the medical area of LAN.
Between weeks 32 – 39 of pregnancy: You must submit medical certification, which will be evaluated by the medical area of LAN.
Medical Certification Requirements for Pregnant Women
Medical certificates for pregnant passengers must be issued within 10 days before the departure of the flight and must include the following information:
• Point of departure and destination of the passenger
• Details about the departure and arrival dates
• Weeks of pregnancy
• Express authorization to travel by airplane
Lion Air states that “it is the duty of pregnant passengers to advise us of the progress of their pregnancy and present a prenatal care document at the point of booking [their] seat and at the [time of] check-in.”
Lion Air allows pregnant passengers who are 28 weeks or less into their pregnancy to travel on Lion Air without a doctor’s certificate. The passenger must however sign a Release and Indemnity Form.
Lion Air allows pregnant passengers who are between the 28th week and the 35th week of their pregnancy travel to travel with ion Air if they produce a doctor’s letter confirming that they are fit to travel and if the date of the certificate is no more than seven (7) days from the scheduled date of departure. These passengers will also be required to sign a Release and Indemnity Form.
Lion Air does not allow passengers who are more than 35 weeks pregnant to travel.
Lot Polish Airlines requires that all pregnant passengers travelling with Lot notify the airline of any special travel “needs” no later than 72 hours before travelling.
Lot Polish Airlines allows pregnant passengers who are 32 weeks pregnant or less to travel with Lot with their doctor’s consent but does not require a doctors medical certificate.
Lot Polish Airlines allows pregnant passengers who are more than 32 weeks pregnant to travel with Lot after completing a Medical Information (MEDIF) FORM.
Lufthansa allows pregnant passengers with complication-free pregnancies to fly with Lufthansa until the end of the 36th week of pregnancy or up to four weeks before their expected due date without a medical certificate from an Obstetrician/Gynecologist. However, Lufthansa recommends that expectant mothers beyond the 28th week of their pregnancies carry a current letter from a gynecologist which includes the following:
• confirmation that the pregnancy is progressing without complications
• the expected due date
• the doctor should expressly state that the patient’s pregnancy does not prevent her from flying.
In the case of an uncomplicated pregnancy with twins or multiple babies, Lufthansa allows travel until the end of the 28th week of pregnancy.
Malaysia Airlines requires ALL pregnant passengers to provide a letter from their doctors stating the duration of their pregnancy and any risk factors they may have.
Malaysia Airlines also “recommends” that pregnant passengers do not travel during the following periods:
• After the 32nd week of pregnancy for those with multiple pregnancies (e.g. twins)
• After the 35th week of pregnancy for passengers carrying one baby and travelling internationally.
• After the 36th week of pregnancy for passengers carrying one baby and travelling domestically.
Monarch Airlines allows pregnant passengers to travel with Monarch up to the 34th week of pregnancy.
Monarch requires pregnant passengers who are between the 28th and the 34th week of their pregnancy to provide a doctor or a midwife certificate of fitness to fly. The certificate will be accepted by Monarch if:
• it is written on the medical practice’s official letterhead.
• it is dated not more than 14 days prior to the start date of your trip.
• it is signed by a doctor or midwife and states that you are fit to fly on both the outbound and inbound flight dates.
• it states the expected date of delivery of your baby.
• your Doctor or Midwife states that you are in good health, that they are happy for you to fly, and that (in their opinion) there is no reason why you cannot fly
Nok Air requires pregnant passengers to advise them at the time of their booking that they are pregnant and of the progress of their pregnancy.
Nok Air allows pregnant passengers who have not yet reached the 28th week of pregnancy to travel without a doctors certificate.
Nok Air requires pregnant passengers between the 28th and the 36th week of their pregnancy to produce a doctor’s certificate that confirms that they are fit to travel before they are allowed to board a Nok Air flight.
Nok Air does not allow passengers who are more than 36 weeks pregnant to fly.
Norwegian Airlines allows pregnant women to fly without a medical certificate until they’ve reached their 36th week of pregnancy.
Norwegian Airlines allows pregnant women to fly on flights that do not exceed 4 hours if they are between their 36th and 38th week of pregnancy if they provide a medical certificate from their doctor that indicates that their pregnancy “is normal” and that the passenger is “fit enough to fly”.
• Norwegian recommends that pregnant passengers keep this medical certificate with them at all times while travelling.
Norwegian does not allow passengers who are more than 38 weeks pregnant to fly.
Oman Air requires that any pregnant passenger travelling between the 28th and the 34th week of their pregnancy present a “Fit to Travel” certificate from a medical practitioner, which confirms the expected date of delivery and their overall fitness to fly. The certificate should be issued by the doctor within 7 days of flight departure and should remain in the possession of the expectant mother at the time of check in. Prior to the 28th week of pregnancy pregnant passengers are not required to provide a medical certificate and after the 34th week of pregnancy pregnant passengers are not allowed to fly with Oman Air.
You cannot fly with Open Skies/British Airways beyond the end of the 36th week of pregnancy if you are pregnant with one baby. You cannot fly with Open Skies/British Airways beyond the end of the 32nd week if you are pregnant with more than one baby.
After 28 weeks you must carry confirmation from your doctor or midwife (such as a letter or certificate, in addition to your pregnancy record) confirming your approximate due date and that there are no complications with your pregnancy.
Peach Airlines does not place a limit on travel by pregnant passengers. If you are pregnant and expecting delivery within 28 days, you are required to carry a medical certificate (written in English or Japanese) submitted by a doctor that indicates that the condition of the passengers pregnancy is good and that the passenger is in good overall physical health and approved for travel.
• The doctor’s certificate should also include the passengers expected due date and it must be issued by a physician no less than 7 days prior to departure.
While Peach Airlines does not place a limit on when pregnant passengers can travel, Peach does recommend that pregnant women expecting to deliver within 14 days of their travel date not fly. If a pregnant passenger does chose to travel within 14 days of their due date Peach Airline requires the following:
• Passengers must submit a doctor’s certificate (written in English or Japanese) that indicates that the condition of the passenger’s pregnancy is good and that the passenger is in good overall physical health and safe to travel by air.
• The doctor’s certificate should also include the passengers expected due date and it must be issued by a physician no less than 7 days prior to departure.
If passengers are pregnant and their expected due date is within 14 days of travel, not only is submission of the medical certificate required but passengers are also required to be accompanied by a physician.
Philippine Airlines does not require pregnant passengers to produce medical clearance forms/certificates from their doctors if they are in normal health and have experienced no pregnancy complications.
Philippines Airlines allows pregnant passengers who are less than 35 weeks pregnant to fly if they have completed the Philippine Airlines Expectant Mothers Information Sheet (EMIS) Form, Part 1.
Philippines Airlines allows pregnant passengers who are between their 24th and 32nd week to travel if they have completed part 1 of the EMIS Form and if their doctor has completed part 2 of the EMIS Form.
• Additionally if the passenger is younger than 21 years old, written consent for travel is required from their husband, parent or guardian.
Philippines Airlines allows pregnant passengers who are 32 weeks pregnant or more to travel until they’ve reached their 35th week of pregnancy if they complete part 1 of the EMIS Form, their doctor completes part 2 of the EMIS Form and part 3 of the EMIS Form has been completed by a recognized Flight Surgeon or a Philippine Airlines physician.

After the 28th week of pregnancy, passengers need to carry a certificate or a letter from a registered medical practitioner or registered midwife confirming:

For ALL pregnant patients that have experience complications (regardless of gestational age at the time of travel), medical clearance from a doctor or midwife is required.
MEDIF forms must be written in English and filled and submitted to Qatar Airways no less than 48 hours and no more than 7 days prior to departure.

• Proposed dates of air travel

Regional Express requires passengers to supply a Medical Certificate of Fitness to Fly under the following circumstances:
• single pregnancy – beyond the 36th week of pregnancy,
• multiple pregnancies – for any travel, and
• complicated pregnancies – for any travel.
The medical certificate must be:
• completed, signed by a medical practitioner & presented at the Regional Express check-in counter to travel on any Regional Express flight/s, and
• issued within the previous 24 hours prior to the flight.

Royal Brunei Airlines allows pregnant passengers with no history of pregnancy complications to travel until they have reached their 36th week of pregnancy.
Royal Brunei Airlines requires that all pregnant passengers who are between the 28th and the 36th week of their pregnancy to provide a certified medical clearance from their doctor of midwife that is dated not more than 7-days from the date of travel and that stipulates in writing that the passenger is medically fit to fly.
Royal Brunei Airlines does not allow pregnant passengers to travel beyond their 36th week of pregnancy.
Prior to the 30th week of Pregnancy:
• All passengers flying when pregnant should consult their doctors/medical practitioners before traveling and need to submit upon check-in a certified detailed medical report from the attending Obstetrician/Gynecologist, written within seven days prior to the date of travel. There is no need for approval from Royal Jordanian Medical Advisor.
After the 30th week of Pregnancy:
Pregnant women traveling after their 30th week need to submit a certified detailed medical report from the attending Obstetrician/Gynecologist written within seven days prior to the date of travel and this report must be approved by Royal Jordanian Medical Advisor. • Pregnant women with multiple fetal pregnancies (e.g. twins or more) after their 32nd week will not be accepted to travel.
• All Pregnant women after 34th week of pregnancy will not be accepted to travel on board Royal Jordanian flights.
Medical Reports submitted to RJ should have the following:
• Age of the pregnant woman.
• State if the pregnancy is single or multiple.
• State the number of weeks of pregnancy (Gestational age in week ).
• Expected Date of Delivery.
• Any complications during pregnancy.
• State if the pregnant fits to fly.
• Report should be issued 7 days before the travel date.
• All pregnant travelers, or their husband, must complete and sign upon check-in Royal Jordanian’s official “Expectant Mother Indemnity Form”. A copy of this signed Form must be retained by the pregnant passenger and carried with her throughout her trip. She must present the form upon request to any Royal Jordanian staff during boarding, in-flight and upon arrival.
Once an uncomplicated pregnancy enters its 28th week, expectant mothers are required to carry a ‘fit to fly’ letter completed by their midwife/doctor.

For uncomplicated pregnancies travel is not permitted beyond the following dates:
• For an uncomplicated single pregnancy, travel is not permitted beyond the end of the 36th week of pregnancy
• For an uncomplicated twins, triplets etc. pregnancy, travel is not permitted beyond the end of the 32nd week of pregnancy.
Pregnant passengers travelling with S7 Airlines are required to complete a special health declaration form at the time of check-in prior to their flight. They are also required to provide a medical statement from their doctor confirming the absence of contraindications to flying and that indicates their precise departure date and that is signed by the doctor completing it. If the precise departure date is not specified in the statement, the document is considered as valid for 7 days from the date of its issue.
SAS allows pregnant passengers carrying one baby to travel up to their 36th week of pregnancy without restrictions.
SAS allows pregnant passengers carrying one baby to travel between their 36th and 38th week of pregnancy if they’ve completed a Special Medical Certificate (MEDC). They must also be authorized to travel by the SAS medical department and their flight can be no longer than 4 hours.
SAS will not all pregnant passengers carrying one baby to travel once they have passed their 38th week or pregnancy.
SAS allows pregnant passengers carrying two or more babies (e.g. with twins, triplets, etc) to travel up to their 28th week of pregnancy without restrictions.
SAS allows pregnant passengers carrying two or more babies (e.g. twins, triplets, etc) to travel between their 28th and 32rd week if they’ve completed a Special Medical Certificate (MEDC). They must also be authorized to travel by the SAS medical department and their flight can be no longer than 4 hours.
SAS will not allow pregnant passengers carrying two or more babies (e.g. twins or triplets) to travel when they have passed their 32nd week of pregnancy.
Saudia Airlines states that “it is the duty of pregnant passengers to advise Saudia of the progress of their pregnancy at the point of booking their seat and at the check-in prior to travelling”.
The carriage of pregnant passengers on Saudia is subject to the following conditions:
• Pregnant passengers are authorized to travel up to the 36th week of their pregnancy without medical clearance.
• While medical clearance is not required to fly on Saudia Airlines prior to the 36th week of pregnancy, all pregnant passengers travelling after the 32nd week of their pregnancy must have their doctor complete a medical certificate (known as a MEDIF). The form is valid for a period of (10) days from the date of issue.
• Medical clearance is required if:
a) Child birth is expected in less than 4 weeks.
b) Uncertainty exists over the progress of the pregnancy and/or over the expected date of delivery.
c) There were previous multiple births childbirth complications or childbirth complications are anticipated.
Saudia Airlines does not allow pregnant passengers to travel when they are more than 35 weeks pregnant.

If you are having no complications with your pregnancy you may travel on Scoot up to the end of the 36th week of your pregnancy for single pregnancies, or up to the end of the 32nd week for multiple pregnancies (for example, twins). In all cases, you must produce, on request, a medical certificate confirming your fitness for travel.
For uncomplicated single pregnancies, Singapore Airlines restricts expectant mothers from travelling beyond the 36th week of pregnancy (calculated based on the expected date of delivery).
For uncomplicated multiple pregnancies, Singapore Airlines restricts expectant mothers from travelling beyond the 32nd week of pregnancy (calculated based on the expected date of delivery).
For uncomplicated single pregnancies between 29 weeks and 36 weeks of pregnancy, expectant mothers are required to provide a medical certificate stating the following: (1) fitness to travel, (2) number of weeks of pregnancy and (3) estimated date of delivery. The certificate should be dated within ten days of the date of the first flight exceeding 28 weeks of pregnancy. This certificate will have to be presented at check-in when requested.
For uncomplicated multiple pregnancies, you need to present the medical certificate if you are travelling between the 29th and 32nd week of pregnancy (calculated based on the expected date of delivery).
You need not present any medical certificate if you are travelling within the 28th week of pregnancy (calculated based on the expected date of delivery). But if any of your return flight exceeds 28 weeks of pregnancy, you will need to present a medical certificate.
South African Airways allows pregnant woman to travel on domestic flights up to the 36th week of their pregnancy
South African Airways allows pregnant women to travel on international flights up to the 35th week of their pregnancy.
A Obstetrician/Gynecologist’s letter must be supplied to the South African Airways Special Bookings department on all pregnancies, stating the pregnancy due date, whether it is a high risk pregnancy and any possible complications of pregnancy at time of travel. This will include multiple pregnancies (e.g twins, triplets, etc), hypertensive passengers, history of premature labor etc. If any complications have occurred during the pregnancy a “Medical Information Sheet” must be completed by the attending physician caring for the passenger and faxed to the Special Bookings department at +27 11 978 2764 for evaluation and medical clearance.
While Southwest Airlines does not have an have a policy against air travel by pregnant passengers Southwest does recommends against air travel beginning at the 38th week of pregnancy
Pregnant passengers may travel on Spice Jet until they have reached their 36th week of pregnancy.
Pregnant passengers travelling on Spice Jet between their 28th and their 36th week of pregnancy must present a doctor’s certificate confirming what stage of the pregnancy they are in and that they are fit to fly.
• The doctor’s certificate is valid for two weeks from the date it is written and must be presented at the time of check-in upon request.
• If a pregnancy is deemed to be complicated (i.e. a multiple pregnancy like twins or triplets, a pregnancy with gestational diabetes, obstetrical hemorrhage, etc), then the doctors certificate produced can be no more than 48 hours old.
Pregnant passengers 37 weeks or more pregnant cannot fly with Spice Jet.
Spirit Airlines urges that “women in their 9th month of pregnancy obtain an examination from [their] physician shortly before flying to confirm that it is safe for them to travel.”
SriLankan Airlines requires all pregnant passengers to carry a medical certificate issued by an Obstetrician/Gynecologist that confirms that they are fit to travel and that was composed no more than 3 days from the date of travel.
For pregnant passengers with uncomplicated pregnancies and who are carrying one baby, they may travel on Sri Lankan Airlines up to the 36th week of their pregnancy if their flight is 4 hours or less and up to the 35th week of their pregnancy if their flight is over 4 hours.
For pregnant passengers with complicated pregnancies or those who are carrying more than one baby (e.g. twins, triplets, etc), they may travel with Sri Lankan Airlines up to the 32nd week of their pregnancy for flights of 4 hours or less and up to the 28th week of their pregnancy for flights of more than 4 hours.
Sun Country Airlines restrictions the travel of pregnant women who are within 7 days of their due date. Per Sun Country’s policy women who are within 7 days of their due date can only fly with Sun Country if they have can produce a doctor’s note that is not more than 72 hours old and that states that the passenger has been examined and found to be physically fit for air travel.
Pregnant passengers whose pregnancies have proceeded without complications can travel on Swiss flights up to the end of the 36th week of their pregnancy. If pregnant passengers are expecting multiple births (e.g. they are carrying twins, triplets, etc) and the pregnancy has proceeded without complications, they can travel on Swiss flights up to the end of the 32th week of pregnancy.
Swiss recommends that expectant mothers beyond the 28th week of their pregnancies carry a current letter from a physician stating that the pregnancy is uncomplicated and confirming the expected date of delivery. The physician should state that the patient’s pregnancy does not prevent her from travelling by air.
Passengers with uncomplicated single pregnancies may travel on flights operated by TAP until the end of the 36th week of the pregnancy or up until 4 weeks before the expected delivery date.
Passengers with uncomplicated pregnancies of twins, triplets etc may travel on flights operated by TAP until the end of the 32nd week of the pregnancy.
In either case, expectant mothers must carry a medical certificate – from the 28th week – stating that it is an uncomplicated pregnancy and confirming the number of weeks of pregnancy.
This doctor’s letter must also state that the pregnancy does not constitute a reason not to fly.
The prior authorisation of the TAP doctor is required in the following cases:
⦁ Risk and high-risk pregnancy.
⦁ Complicated pregnancy.
⦁ Single pregnancy beyond 36 weeks.
⦁ Pregnancy of twins, triplets etc beyond 32 weeks.
⦁ If there are any doubts as to the stage of the pregnancy and the expected delivery date.
⦁ Anticipated delivery complications
⦁ Risk of miscarriage or recent miscarriage.

After this document has been analysed by the TAP doctor, the passenger will be informed if she can travel and under what conditions.
Pregnant passengers who are 28 weeks or more pregnant must have a medical certificate from their doctor confirming their expected date of delivery. The medical certificate should also comment on the general “condition of [the] pregnancy”
Pregnant passengers carrying one baby can travel until their 36th week of their pregnancy as long as their flight is less than 4 hours long and until the 34th week of their pregnancy for flights longer than 4 hours.
Pregnant passengers with multiples (e.g. twins, triplets, etc) or pregnant passengers with complicated pregnancies (e.g. placenta previa, history of preterm labor, etc) cannot fly without the medical approval of the Thai Airlines medical department.
Pregnant passenger more than 36 weeks pregnant cannot fly with Thai Airlines.
Pregnant passengers can fly on Thomas Cook without a medical certificate up to the 27th week of their pregnancy.
When travelling between 28 – 36 weeks Thomas Cook requires a medical certificate confirming the number of weeks pregnant the passenger is and their expected due date.
⦁ In all cases a ‘fit to fly’ letter or a medical certificate must be written by the pregnant passenger’s doctor. All doctor’s letters must have been written no earlier than 10 days before the outbound date of travel. The letter should confirm the expected date of delivery and confirm that there have been no pregnancy complications.
Expectant mothers are not allowed to fly with Thomas Cook under any circumstance from 36th week of their pregnancy onwards, unless they have multiples pregnancy (e.g. twins, triplets, etc) in which care they cannot fly with Thomas Cook beyond their 32nd week of pregnancy.
Pregnant passengers carrying one baby may fly Thomson Airways short haul until the 36th week of their pregnancy.
Pregnant passengers carrying one baby may fly Thomson Airways until the 34th week of their pregnancy when flying long haul.
Pregnant passengers carrying multiples (e.g. twins, triplets, etc) can fly Thomson Airways until they reached their 32nd week of pregnancy.
All pregnant passengers who have reached or passed the 28th week of their pregnancy need to provide a doctors letter/medical certificate when travelling with Thomson Airways.
⦁ Medical certificates must include the passengers expected date of delivery, confirmation that the pregnancy is uncomplicated and a general statement that the passenger is “fit to fly”.
Pregnant women must have completed their journey in full by the end of the 34th week of pregnancy.
If a passenger travelling with Tigerair is between the 30th and the 34th week of their pregnancy, a medical certificate is required that states that they are “fit to travel” before they will be allowed to board.
For Tigerair Australia the certificate must include:
⦁ The estimated due date;
⦁ The absence of complications;
⦁ The passenger’s fitness to fly for the duration of the flight booked; and
⦁ It must be dated no more than 14 days prior to travel unless stated on the medical certificate that the passenger is fit to travel for a certain period and as long as the travel date is not past the 34th week
Flying is not permitted on Tigerair from the beginning of the 35th week onwards.
Pregnant passengers are allowed to fly TUIfly until they’ve reached their 36th week of pregnancy.
TUIfly’s policy does state that the airline has the right to demand proof of the patient’s gestational age by requesting a copy of their medical records or maternity card.
Pregnant passengers can fly on Turkish Airlines without a doctors letter/report until theyve reached the 28th week of their pregnancy.
Pregnant passengers expecting one baby can fly with Turkish Airlines between their 28th and their 35th weeks with a doctor’s report that states that they are fit to fly by air. Once they’ve passed their 35th week of pregnancy pregnant passengers can no longer fly with Turkish Airlines.
Pregnant passengers expecting twins or more can fly with Turkish Airlines between their 28th and 31st weeks with a doctor’s report that states that they are fit to fly by air. Once they’ve passed their 31st week of pregnancy pregnant passengers with multiples can no longer fly with Turkish Airlines.
Any medical report/clearance provided Turkish Airlines must be dated 7 days or less prior to the flight and must contain the doctors first and surname, diploma number and a clear signature.
⦁ The report should be issued in English or Turkish
Any woman in the first eight months of pregnancy will be allowed to travel on United Airlines flights without medical documentation.
Pregnant women traveling during the ninth month of their pregnancy must have the original and two copies of an obstetrician’s certificate, which must be dated within three days (72 hours) prior to her flight departure.
The certificate must state that the obstetrician has examined the customer and found her to be physically fit for air travel between the specified dates. The estimated birth date of the baby must be after the date of the last flight on the itinerary.
The customer should provide the original certificate to a United Representative at check-in. The remaining copies are for reference during air travel.
Vanilla Air requires all pregnant passengers travelling within 28 days of their expected due date to produce a medical certificate in either English or Japanese that has been issues by their doctor no more than 7 days before the date of departure.
Medical certificates must include the following information;
⦁ A statement that the passenger is in “good health”.
⦁ The pregnant passengers expected due date.
⦁ Any special attention that the patient may require while travelling.
⦁ The signature of the physician completing the certificate.
Any pregnant passenger travelling on Vanilla Air within 7 days of their due date is required to travel with a doctor.
Virgin America will allow women to travel without a doctor’s permission up to 7 days before their due date. Any woman who is within 7 days of her due date must submit a document from her physician on official letterhead stating that she is fit to fly. This information must be available to a Virgin America Team Member at check-in. If the Guest is traveling roundtrip, the document should indicate that she will be fit for the return portion of her trip as well.
As long as you haven’t experienced any complications during your pregnancy, you can fly Virgin Atlantic until your 28th week of pregnancy without needing to provide any documentation.. Beyond the 28th week of pregnancy however Virgin Atlantic observes the following guidelines:
Single pregnancy
If a pregnant passenger is expecting one baby and wants to travel between their 28th and 36th weeks, Virgin Atlantic requires that their doctor fill out a Pregnancy Information Form. Once completed, the form should be sent to the Virgin Atlantic Special Assistance team.
After a pregnant passengers 36th week Virgin Atlantic will not allow them to fly unless there are mitigating circumstances as outlined on the Virgin Atlantic website.
Multiple pregnancy
If a pregnant passenger is expecting more than one baby and they want to travel between their 28th and their 32nd weeks of pregnancy, Virgin Atlantic requires that their doctor fill out a Pregnancy Information Form. Once completed, the form should be sent to the Virgin Atlantic Special Assistance team.
After the 32nd week of pregnancy Virgin Atlantic will not allow pregnant passengers carrying more than one baby to fly with them.
Travelling after the cut-off date
For travel after the 36th week for single pregnancies or after the 32nd week for multiple pregnancies, Virgin Atlantic will only consider allowing you to travel with them for urgent medical or compassionate reasons, and only upon the approval of their medical advisors. If Virgin Atlantic allows for travel beyond the above-mentioned cut off dates they may require that “a suitable medical attendant” accompany the passenger.
Prior to the 28th week of your pregnancy you can travel with Virgin Australia without documentation from your doctor or midwife.
If you are 28 weeks or more pregnant, Virgin Australia requires that you carry a letter with you from your doctor or midwife, dated no more than 10 days prior to travel, outlining your estimated due date, whether or not you have a single or a multiple pregnancies (e.g. twins, triplets, etc), the absence of pregnancy complications, and your fitness to fly for the duration of the flight(s) booked.
Virgin Australia requires you to travel with an official medical clearance that can be found on their website at (http://www.virginaustralia.com/cs/groups/internetcontent/@wc/documents/webcontent/~edisp/doc_medical-clearance.pdf) if any of the following applies:
⦁ Any pregnancy with complications.
⦁ Within 5 days of normal vaginal delivery.
Virgin Australia does not allow pregnant passengers to travel in the following circumstances:
Flights greater than 4 hours
⦁ Single pregnancy – after the 36th week
⦁ Multiple pregnancy – after the 32nd week
⦁ Within 48 hours of delivery Normal Vaginal Delivery (NVD)
Flights less than 4 hours
⦁ Single pregnancy – after the 38th week
⦁ Multiple pregnancy – after the 36th week
⦁ Within 48 hours of delivery Normal Vaginal Delivery (NVD)
Volaris recommends that pregnant passengers do not travel after the 7th month (i.e. the 28th week of their pregnancy).
However if pregnant passengers are travelling after the 28th week of their pregnancy Volaris requires that they submit a letter from their physician including the following:
⦁ An authorization from your physician to travel during your flight dates.
⦁ If not included, the letter is only valid up to 5 days after it was written.
⦁ Your full name.
⦁ Full name, professional license and telephone number of your physician.
If you are pregnant, you may fly with Vueling up to the 27th week of pregnancy without the need to present a medical certificate.
If you want to fly with Vueling and are between the 28th and the 35th week of your pregnancy you must present the original copy of a medical certificate/authorization from your doctor confirming that you can fly. This authorization must also include its period of validity (start and end date) and the doctor’s medical board number and signature.
From week 36 of their pregnancy onwards, pregnant women may not fly with Vueling.
West Jet places no restrictions or requirements on pregnant passengers travelling with West Jet. West Jet does however advise that all “expectant mothers more than 36 weeks [pregnant] check with [their] physician or midwife before travelling”.
Pregnant passengers are not allowed to travel on Wizz Air flights after the 34th week of their pregnancy.
Women who are between the 28th and 34th weeks of their pregnancy can travel on Wizz Air flights only on the condition that they obtain a medical certificate approving their fitness to travel by air.
Wow Air places no restrictions on travel by pregnant passengers prior to the 27th week of their pregnancy.
Pregnant passengers who are between the 28th and 35th weeks of their pregnancy may fly Wow Air but are required to provide a recent doctor’s note stating that they are fit to fly.
⦁ The doctor’s note can be no older than 7 days old, so Wow Air recommends that if your trip is longer than 7 days from the time the note was generated you make sure that you have it renewed before travelling back home.
After the 36th week of pregnancy Wow Air does not allow pregnant passengers to fly with them.
